2026-04-02 15:37 〜 15:38 サザンビーチの東側、約130メートルにわたるサイクリングロードの整備工事が3月27日に完了しました。茅ヶ崎サザンCの脇から眺めると、まっすぐに伸びる新しい道が眩しいですね。西側から旧道を望め 、そこには「通行止」の表示。長年親しんだ景色が、ひとつ役割を終えた瞬間です。
2026-04-04 16:36 東側から旧道を眺めると「高波のため通行止」の看板が。津波警報の際など、実際に避難や規制で使われた記憶が蘇ります。ここはかつて市営中海岸プールや駐車場があった場所。地元民にとっては、空き地になる前の賑やかな風景もセットで思い出される、記憶の交差点でもあります。
2026-04-09 15:45 〜 15:46 特別に旧道の中へ。何度も通り見慣れた風景ですが、正式に通れるのはこれが最後。まさに「見納め」の散歩となりました。一方、海側から見た新道の側壁には、いささか「やっつけ仕事」のような荒さも。下水道の出入り口付近など、もう少し丁寧に仕上げてほしかったな、というのが本音です。
2026-04-09 15:47 新道から国道134号線側を眺めてみます。手前の広大な空き地にかつてのプールの面影はありませんが、今後ここがどう活用されるのかは気になるところ。単なる空き地ではなく、地元の人々にとって本当に有益で愛される場所に生まれ変わってほしいと願わずにはいられません。
2026-04-24 16:02 〜 04-29 15:41 4月下旬、仕上げの作業が進んでいます。北側に新しい柵が設置され、数日後には南側の柵も完成。真新しいカラーコーンが残る中、130メートルの直線ルートが名実ともに「新道」として完成を迎えました。
まとめ 紆余曲折あった一年がかりの大工事も、これにて一件落着。130メートルという短い距離かもしれませんが、私たちの日常の散歩道がより安全に、快適になったことは間違いありません。暑い日も風の日も工事に従事してくださった作業員の皆様、本当にお疲れ様でした。新しい道を歩く足取りも、心なしか軽やかになりそうです。
The renovation of the 130-meter section of the cycling road east of Southern Beach was completed on March 27th. Looking out from beside the Chigasaki Southern C, the new straight road looks brilliantly fresh. To the west, the old road is now marked “No Entry,” signaling the end of its long-standing role.
From the eastern side, a “Closed due to High Waves” sign stands on the old path. It brings back memories of when this road was used during tsunami warnings and restrictions. For locals, this area—where the municipal Nakakaigan Pool and parking used to be—is a crossroads of memories, recalling the lively atmosphere before it became vacant land.
Taking a special walk inside the old road, I realized this would be my last time passing through this familiar scenery. It was truly a final farewell. Meanwhile, looking at the new road’s retaining wall from the sea side, the finish seems a bit rushed. Truth be told, I wish the work around the sewer outlets had been handled with a bit more care.
Looking toward Route 134 from the new path, there is no trace of the former pool in the vast vacant lot. I can’t help but wonder what will become of this space. I sincerely hope it will be reimagined into something truly beneficial and cherished by the local community.
In late April, the finishing touches were applied. New fencing was installed on the north side, followed by the south side just a few days later. Amidst the fresh color cones, this 130-meter straight stretch has officially been completed as the “new road.”
Summary: The major construction project, which took a whole year with its share of ups and downs, has finally come to a close. While 130 meters is a short distance, there is no doubt our daily stroll has become safer and more comfortable. To all the workers who labored through heat and wind: thank you for your hard work. My steps feel a little lighter as I walk this new path.
